Well...look up before you sit down. A ceiling tile dropped in the row behind us during our movie. Roof leak that continued throughout the show. If anyone had been sitting there, they'd have gotten nailed. Movie was stopped and started again while the staff attempted a clean up in the dark. Wild. Reimbursed? No.
I recently went to see the re-release of Dune at the IMAX screen at Metropolitan MetroLux 12 Theatres + IMAX. Everything was going accordingly without issue until the movie started. In the actual theater there are two large illuminated IMAX signs, floor to ceiling, with bright blue light strips all flanking the screen on both sides that remained on for the entire film. They were incredibly distracting and irritating. They are so bright that they produce big light reflections on the screen and every time the scenes get dark you are immediately reminded of their presence throughout the whole film! I will not go back to this theater even if I need to travel further to a IMAX that I know does not leave their lights or signs on during the film.
The place is looking a bit shabby but I still like going there as it’s a convenient location for us. I assume it will become even busier with all the new homes coming in. My main reason for writing this review is the awful smell permeating the entire place tonight. Really bad! Like old sour dish rags is the closest description I can give. Our clothes smelled of it after we got home.
This is our go to movie theater. Really enjoy the reclining seats but I’ve gotten spoiled and am bummed when we have regular ones. The last couple times we’ve been, though the bathrooms have really really been dirty.
This theater is in a pretty convenient location for us, but it is definitely showing its age. A lot of the reclining seats in the older theaters are cracked and/or noisy when you recline or close them. The sound often sems too loud or poorly tuned for the movie. Action scenes can be loud enough that it sounds like the speakers can't handle it, and even some character voices hurt your ears. I hope they do well enough to reinvest and make the experience great again. Either way, I hope this honest feedback is helpful for their plans. Edit: I appreciate the owner response and plans. We look forward to the updates and I'd definitely edit the rating as it goes. I am also hopeful the sound issues are calibration-related and something you can tweak even without all new equipment or such.
